John Cabot University STAND Club Supports Italian Red Cross
John Cabot University is pleased to announce that the STAND student club recently donated €3,600 to the Italian Red Cross.
At the beginning of the Spring 2019 semester, the Office of Community Service, members of STAND and their advisor, Professor Andrea Lanzone, were invited to visit La Fondazione Il Faro, located inside the Italian Red Cross headquarters in Via Ramazzini, Rome.
Il Faro, in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross, hosts homeless and socially vulnerable people during the coldest months of winter, providing shelter, meals, basic healthcare, and hygiene products. The visit led by Gaia Rovelli, representative of the Partnership & Fundraising Office of the Red Cross, gave STAND members the opportunity to meet Red Cross volunteers, medical practitioners who provide voluntary healthcare services, and the guests of the Center.
The JCU delegation was touched by the warm welcome received at Il Faro. Given the importance of the services offered by the Center, STAND decided to support the Emergenza freddo (Cold-weather Emergency) project. The €3600 donation, which was raised during the Book Sale at the beginning of the semester, will be used to cover housing bills.
STAND is looking forward to future collaborations with the Italian Red Cross, one of the key partners of JCU Community Service and Service Learning programs.
