JCU Team to Participate in Komen Race for the Cure
The JCU Athletics Department, and the Offices of Student Services, and Health & Wellbeing, are pleased to announce the creation of a John Cabot University team to participate in the 2023 Komen Race for The Cure, which will be held in Rome on May 7.
The Komen Race for the Cure is one of the biggest events in Rome supporting breast cancer research and includes a full weekend of activities, food, and medical screening opportunities for women. The JCU team invites all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and outside community members, to participate in the 2K walk & 5K run, and to join the fight against breast cancer.
On the morning of May 7, the JCU team will meet at a TBD location and will be provided with breakfast before heading to the race. To participate please fill out this form and join the JCU team by completing the form on the Race for the Cure page. A contribution of 15 euros per person is required to sign up for the race. Participants will receive a Race for the Cure t-shirt and a JCU hat. People who cannot join the race but would like to donate to the cause can do so through the official Race for the Cure website.

The Susan G. Komen organization was created in 1982, with $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names. The organization has now grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. To date, the Susan G. Komen organization has invested more than $3.3 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy, and programs in more than 60 countries. The organization’s efforts helped reduce deaths from breast cancer by 40 percent between 1989 and 2016.
