JCU Students Get a Taste of the Beauty of Tuscany
The months of rain that Italy endured this past winter have created an absolutely beautiful spring! The JCU students who attended the Tuscany Weekend Trip (April 19-21), with JCU Student Services, witnessed this first hand. The rolling hills of Tuscany were so green you felt you needed to wear sun glasses just to look at them. Truly a magnificent sight to take in.
The first stop of the weekend trip was in Montepulciano where students enjoyed beautiful panoramic views of the Tuscan landscape while taking a tour that also showed artisans hard at work creating hand painted pottery, bronze masterpieces, and beautiful mosaics. Next was a visit to Pienza, a world famous UNESCO world heritage site and then to Siena where students spent Friday and Saturday night.
All weekend students were able to enjoy the traditional cuisine of Tuscany and also partook in a wine tasting at the famous Caparzo Winery located in Montalcino. Here students learned why Tuscany is famous for its red wines and how these world famous wines are created. Truly a highlight of the weekend! To cap off the Tuscany Weekend Trip, students spent the day in Florence where they had an entire day to explore the city, check out the open leather markets, and learn about the Florence’s history on a guided tour before heading back to JCU’s home base, Rome.
