A record 75 student volunteers have signed up to participate in JCU's Italy Reads, John Cabot University's community-based reading and cultural exchange program. Students committed themselves to prepare for the Italy Reads program by volunteering to read 'The Great Gatsby' and work with the over 30 Italian Public High Schools that are part of this program of cultural exchange around.

On July 24-25th, JCU hosted visiting scholar Brian L. Ott, University of Colorado Denver. On July 24th, in Aula Magna Regina, students, staff, and faculty viewed the Norwegian film The Bothersome Man, after which Professor Ott led a lively discussion, while the following day he presented a guest lecture in Prof. Carl Burgchardt's "Cinematic Rome" class.
