REGENERATION Expanded Cinema Student Exhibit: May 8

The students of Expanded Cinema have explored approaches to listening, observing, and recording through audiovisual projects that intermix documentary, fiction, and abstract modes of filmmaking. In response to the current pandemic, these final student videos investigate the idea of Regeneration during a time of quarantine through their understanding of expanded cinema.

Virtual Admitted Students Day Celebrates Class of 2024

On Saturday, April 18, 2020, the John Cabot University Admissions Office hosted its second Admitted Students Day. This year, we celebrated the incoming class of 2024 virtually on Zoom with a total of 79 accepted students tuning in from countries around the world, including Bolivia, Ecuador, Italy, Namibia, Poland, and the United States.

Senior Eleonora Francica is from Albano Laziale, near Rome. An International Affairs major and Philosophy minor, she is headed to the Columbia School of Journalism, where she was the only Italian admitted to the Master of Science program for the 2020-2021 academic year.

JCU Professor Cornelia Lauf Creates Artist Residency in Sicily

Cornelia Lauf, Visiting Professor of Art History at JCU recently created the Pernice Artist Residency in Sicily. Based in Monreale, near Palermo, Sicily, the Residence is located on the grounds of the Masseria Pernice, an ancient vineyard and farm run by artist Paolo Sallier de La Tour, whose family has been in the wine business for centuries.

This summer, the students of the ‘DMA 322 Digital Storytelling and Community Engagement’ course had the opportunity to collaborate with the Casa Internazionale Delle Donne (International Women’s House), a self-financed not-for-profit organization that works on promoting the rights, culture, knowledge, experiences and policies produced by and for women. They produced three short documentaries.
